In 2019 a team of students was digging near an olive farm in southern Italy when a small stone head was discovered. At first it was thought to be a child's toy. After it had been cleaned, however, painted eyes and a crown of leaves were revealed. The head was sent to a museum in Naples, where it was examined by experts for months. It was finally identified as a local goddess of the harvest, worshipped more than two thousand years ago. Nobody knows her name, but she is now displayed in a glass case, smiling at visitors.
